The LEW Conference focuses on research into labour markets, employment and the nature of paid work in New Zealand.

The 38th annual conference is being hosted this year in Christchurch, New Zealand. Christchurch is recovering from devastating earthquakes in 2010/11. The New York Times has listed the city as one of its top places to go in 2014, describing it as "experiencing a rebirth with creativity and wit".
The conference is being hosted by the AERU at Lincoln University and by the Canterbury Development Corporation (which is responsible for leading economic development on behalf of the Christchurch City Council).
The conference will include keynote addresses by the Mayor of Christchurch, Lianne Dalziel, and by the CEO of the Canterbury Development Corporation, Tom Hooper. Other keynote speakers and plenary sessions will be announced shortly.
